Here is cowboy singer R.W. Hampton and movie star Buck Taylor anxiously awaiting their turn on the hot seat.

Actually, R.W., Buck and Dakota had a lot of fun talking. Segments of their conversation will be on a future Chronicle of the Old West Weekly Edition Radio Show.

We spent June 22 through 25 at Founder's Ranch, located east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We attended the 25th anniversary of the Single Action Shooter's Society's (SASS) End of Trail. During the event, we interviewed celebrities before an audience of those in attendance.

The picture gives you an idea of our setup. I'm interviewing Joe Bowman. Joe is a master at trick shooting.

We’ve had a lot of things happening around our place since our last entry back in the first of the month.  Therefore, we’ll be giving you several updates.

Thanks for your patience over the last couple of weeks.

We must apologize for not keeping "On The Road" current.  We've had major problems with the company handling it.  As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay."  And this service is free.  We're presently looking for another service.

The Chronicle of the Old West radio shows continue to grow.  Our weekly show can now be heard in the Ridgecrest, California area on KLOA, 104.9 on the FM dial, the voice of the high desert.  KLOA, not only covers Ridgecrest, it can also be heard in California City, Tehachapi and Lancaster.  They may begin airing our daily show in the near future.

We welcome Bill Corbin and the gang to the Old West.

Our “Sidekick” program is up and running. (If you’re not familiar with it, see my May Notes on our opening web page.)

Gordon Eaton is Sidekick #001. Gordon is the person who inspired us to develop the program. He works for the post office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gordon Eaton Sidekick #001

Even though Gordon is an Old West enthusiast, the Old West isn’t his only passion. In the background of the picture is a small portion of his baseball glove collection. But, Gordon doesn’t just collect baseball gloves; he’s been collecting left-handed baseball gloves for ten years.

Gordon says, “With my newly rediscovered fondness of the Old West, the smell of good leather transcends the present to the past.”

Incidentally, Gordon is working hard at getting the Chronicle of the Old West radio shows in Tulsa.

Welcome, Sidekick Gordon!

You will notice that it has been a couple of weeks since we’ve added any entries to our “On the Road” section.  It isn’t that we’ve had nothing happening, or nothing to say.  It’s because we’ve had major problems with the web site.  Our web host changed the rules on us without giving us a heads up.

Lynn Nyen, our web master, has worked tirelessly over the last couple of weeks putting the pieces back together again.  With a little baling wire and some duct tape, she’s making it work.

Thanks, Lynn.

Over the next few days, I’ll be getting you updated with a number of entries.

This week’s Chronicle of the Old West Weekly Edition features Andy Taylor talking about the events that took place in Montgomery County, Kansas in the 1800’s. We’re also talking to Terry Del Bene about his book “Donnor Party Cookbook”, and Bill O’Neal about Indians who would have won a Medal of Honor, should the Indians have had one.

To get more information on our weekly show, including pictures of the participants, click on the RADIO SHOW plank above.

Incidentally, we have had a number of people asking about getting copies of the weekly shows, as well as the daily shows that were their favorites, ones they missed or because the shows aren’t aired in their market. Very soon, we’ll be offering all our current and past radio shows on CD.
